Use this once a week—or whenever the home starts asking for too many small decisions. The goal is to restore the easiest next action, not to deep-clean every room.

Before you begin
- Set a realistic stopping time.
- Bring one trash bag and one basket for items that belong elsewhere.
- Choose whether this is a reset only or a reset plus light cleaning.
Kitchen
- Return food and cooking tools to their usual zones.
- Clear enough counter space for the next meal or grocery bag.
- Wipe the sink and the cleared working surface.
- Empty trash or recycling if it is full or beginning to smell.
Bathroom
- Return daily products to their limited zone.
- Hang towels and cloths so they can dry fully.
- Wipe the sink and the most-used touchpoints with a product appropriate for the surface.
- Restock only the essentials that are actually low.
Bedroom & closet
- Move dirty laundry to the hamper and clean clothes to their homes.
- Place worn-once clothes in their defined hook, basket, or shelf.
- Clear the bedside surface back to its intended job.
- Set aside repair or donation items so they do not re-enter the closet.
Entryway & living
- Return shoes, bags, keys, and outdoor layers to their landing zones.
- Move mail or paper to its next decision point.
- Reset shared surfaces and return activity kits.
- Clear the route through the entry and main walkway.
Finish
- Walk the return basket to the rooms where its contents belong.
- Note one system that repeatedly failed this week.
- Choose one small adjustment—not a new organizing project.
Keep it honest: If the checklist routinely takes too long, remove tasks or split it across days. A maintainable reset is more useful than a complete list you avoid.
